ACADEMIC STAFF DEVELOPMENT AS AN ENABLER TO GOOD TEACHING PRACTICES AT A HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION IN THE EASTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA

Higher Education (HE) institutions have to provide support Academic Staff Development (ASD) through policies, funding and strategies that afford lecturers opportunities attend ASD disciplinary-based professional training. Upgrading the nature of teaching learning is a key strategy in HE responsibility lies with identify innovative learning. Good not an accident, it achieved continuous engagement enhancement on both content pedagogical skills. Such skills need be horned continuously close gap lecturers’ Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) suits approach. This study was grounded principles (PCK). It conducted one university campus comprising two sites Eastern Cape South Africa. A purposive sample 51 academics used for data collection. analysis emerging themes from interview responses. The findings showed regard as enhancing quality empowering improve their lecturing responsibilities.
